HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OBJECTIFIED!

Hello! My name is Chester Fernandez, and I am the creator of Objectified. I am putting this out a day early because I am also getting the website ready for this Friday's release today (so I can have tomorrow off for my birthday).

As some of you might know, my project and I as well as Story of Undertale share the same birthday (April 3rd). It was on my birthday in 2022 that I officially decided that the Objectified webcomic was something that I wanted to create.

This was for a myriad of reasons, some of them deeply personal.

There was a magnetism that kept pulling me back to these characters and kept me restless no matter what other things in life I tried to pursue. I cannot explain it.

No other project, job, or endeavor could hold me for much longer than a few months. It was the day I decided to start working on Objectified that I felt like a weight was being lifted from my shoulders.

I was also terrified of not knowing if I could commit to the project and was also terrified of the community.

People were starting rumors about me, which has become an increasingly common problem for artists and content creators online. I was lucky that the person who started the rumors eventually admitted they were false, but it was years later and that time spent being ridiculed by strangers had changed how I viewed the OSC and the world in an extremely negative way.

As years went by working on the comic, and while getting older, I was able to see past this experience and appreciate my own subsection of the community by starting to interact with it in little ways online, something I promised to start doing last year and have since done. I feel a lot better now.

Objectified was originally about 75 episodes long in its entirety. If the story had not been expanded upon at all, I would have finished the final episode of Objectified yesterday. That is strange to think about.

So much else has been achieved in only three years of working on the comic as well.

Among many significant things, I can't believe that I'm going to be 25 years old, or that I have a beard, or that I can hold an enamel pin of my own character in my hand.

Things happen so fast now that I can barely process them, but time moves so slowly.

I want to thank every stranger who showed me genuine kindness and contributed to building up the Objectified community.

I also love my friends, who have stuck by my side unwavering and have done so much for me.

I have longer moments of clarity where I can see past the absurdity of the premise of my work and realize that there's nothing else in the whole world I'd rather be doing than this.

Happy 3rd birthday, Objectified.
